Jane Slimon lived and studied in Paris during the final year of the Algerian War. This trip and subsequent travels have nurtured her interest in European culture and history, but she has always returned to her Midwestern roots. The uncluttered land and calm pace of life allow time for intense observation of nature and unfettered development of her art.
After studying in France, Jane attended the University of Kansas and received a master's degree in art from Emporia State University. She has taught art classes at ESU and at Flint Hills Technical College. Now retired, Jane lives in the country with her husband, Richard, a painter. They maintain studios in their home.
Over the years, Jane's artwork has been included in exhibitions in the Denver, Dallas, Nelson-Atkins and Wichita Museums of Art and in university galleries around the country. She has had several one-person shows, and has participated in many invitational and competitive exhibitions, winning a number of awards.
